The Ismaili ruler of Multan fled to a fort where he immured himself and was finally pardoned by Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi on promise of payment of ransom.〔Samina Rahman. ''Pre Mughal India''. Page 61〕 Abul Fatah Daud offered a yearly tribute of 200,000 golden Dirhams and conversion from Shia Isma'ili fiqh to Sunni Hanafi fiqh.
